The family has agreed to a family reunion in central Iowa from August 6 to 8, 2010 at the Lakeside Inn at Lake Panorama, in Panora, Iowa.Click here for a link to the Lakeside Inn website . The
Lakeside Inn is brand new, with 22 suites, most with fireplaces, all
with a view of Lake Panorama. Room rates are very reasonable, and there is a very nice restaurant, The Port. The Inn
also has meeting rooms and a very nice dining room, giving us plenty of
room to sit and talk.
On Friday night starting at 6:30, we’ll all order from the restaurant’s menu which usually includes a Prime Rib buffet. There are plenty of outdoor activities possible for Saturday, including swimming in the hotel’s small pool, watching waterskiing competition at the annual Panorama Days festival, bike riding on a nearby paved trail, or fishing for small-mouth bass in the Middle Raccoon River, starting just below Lake Panorama. At times the Raccoon River is also good for kayaking or tubing. Breakfast vouchers are provided with hotel registration. On Saturday evening at 6:30, we will celebrate Norwegian Christmas in August at our new house on nearby Diamondhead Lake, with a Norwegian JulebØrd. The buffet dinner will include meatballs, ham, smoked salmon, herring, lefse and many other goodies - but no lutefisk. (There’s no charge for this meal.) Be sure to get into the holiday spirit by dressing for Christmas in Norway - in Iowa! For example, wear a red T-shirt with your green shorts or tie some jingle bells to your flip flops. On Sunday morning, we’ll eat brunch in the hotel’s restaurant starting at 9:00 and have the gift and craft exchange which has become a reunion tradition. If you want to participate, bring one item to exchange. Lake Panorama is a private lake, so don’t bring your own boats, please. We have reserved a pontoon boat from 3:00 to 5:00 on Saturday. We’re looking forward to seeing you again!
Please click here to email Ed Detlie if you have interest in joining the reunion. Details will be posted as they become available. You can check above on the tab that says Future Reunions, for information on the 2010 reunion.
